Hi,

VEP 7 uses the eLicenser copy protection system.

If you don't plan to run any instances of VEP on your master computer, you only need one license.
You have to install VEP on both computers, but the connector plugin in the DAW does not require a license.

If needed, you can buy additional VEP licenses at a reduced price.

This info is right on the product page when you scroll down:

* You need one Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 license per computer. For example, if you have two computers, one master and one slave, you need just one license if you’re running one or more instances of Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 on your slave computer only. If you’re running one or more instances of Vienna Ensemble Pro on both your master and slave machines, you need two licenses. Also, each computer requires one ViennaKey for authorization.

The part I didn't get was that I don't need VEP running on the master, but only a plugin.

I use Win 7 Pro SP1 including all latest updates.

I have to say that I am very disapointed about the new licencing. I don't know how it was to obtain additional licences in the past, but I had been expecting to buy the three license bundle. Now it is going to cost me over $100 more for the same number of licenses.

Its all done to collect more cash from us users. That's the way the big companies operate today.
VSL know we need more than one license, so its an easy catch. The earlier genorosity is long gone. Sad.

I upgraded my 3 license bundle for VE6 less than 1 year ago.

Most other companies give you a free upgrade in those situations.

Now VSL want even more money than back then. And what do I get back ? One license ! LOL

(Yes I know the second and third license are a tad cheaper ...)

Wonder if they come up with any 'specials' during Black Friday ...

 100% True!!   Actual Black Friday deals are also not the "yellow of the egg"  full upgrade incl. 3 licences to VEP7 now (black friday deals) for 155eur instead of 85eur (from VEP5 to VEP6).    SCAM...    they should give an additional extra rebate on black friday 29.11.19 eg 125 or 135 for 3licenses upgrade. that would make me happy.

I believe you can understand that many of us got some thoughts on your new license system.

When you change the policy like you have done, there will naturally affect users.

But it's not only you guys that change the upgrade policy these days. AVID is another example. And these changes affect different users in different ways, and naturally there might be a lot of emotions involved.

Now ... As you can see from my previous post, I got 3 licenses last time I upgraded. This year I got one. For sure, it affects me finacially, and this time that was not too convenient ... ;)

Anyway, I upgraded yesterday. Hopefully I will find out if I need one or two extra licenses in my setup before the BF discounts go away.

I am now looking forward to check out version 7.

I found the best prices at Thomann.de. Now those discount prices are something I can support.

The problem is that there is no possibility to buy an additional license (or and additional 3 license bundle) for OLDER VEP versions.
So, I am in the case that if I want to buy an additional license of VEP6 for a new slave, I CAN'T! There's only VEP7 to buy.
So, instead of buying an additional 3 license bundle of VEP6... I must renew ALL the licences for the slave computers with VEP7.
Why there's not a way to to buy OLDER versions of the software licenses? I don't want to upgrade all my computer farm for an additional license.

You can use a VE Pro 7 license to work with VE Pro 6, no troubles there.

Hello ,    I haven't found the answer yet on the forum but I use Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 in many Templates. If I upgrade to version 7, will I still be able to open my old templates and sessions?

Yes, that will work. If you have set up very complex audio routings in VE Pro 5, you might have to adjust some of those routings, but in general, the transitions works very well.
