  • SYNCHRON-ized DIMENSION STRINGS! Finally...

That's the announcement I was waiting for, as several other people in love with Dimension concept, and thinking about the Synchron player power of organizing patches and articulations in a clever way.

Immediately updated, can't wait for testing it! (download in progress LOL)

  • This is great news! Finaly getting my Dimension strings out of the dust shelf. Do I have to download all sample data again if I upgrade from Dimension Strings I Full library?

    Cheers!

  • Hi,

Glad to see you like this new addition to our Synchron Series.

@dane: Yes, that's new sample content for all Synchron Series products.

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks Paul! I just noticed the synchronized version is around 30GB less in sample size but with the same sample amount compared to the original dimesion strings I. We are getting the same artiulations with the upgrade right?

  • In the VI version, matracies from I, II and III could be combined into a single instruemnt. I assume that's not posible with the Synchron player is it?

  • Hi,

The new file format allows for quite some optimization.

  • Is there any type of Auto-Divisi functionality in the Synchron Player when using the Synchronized Dimension Strings ?   What's the best way to use the Synchronized Dim-Strings if no Auto-Divisi functionality is available ?

Totally possible... and that's what I've done.  For example I have a dimension labeled "mute" which expends out into sub dimensions with all the necessary articulations.  For the Sul Tasto bowings, I've inserted them into "shorts" "longs" "legato" etc.

Here's a tip too when customizing: I've had some pretty awesome results by blending the portamento and normal legatos into a crossfaded dimension.. sometimes, depending on the velocity there's a little phasey thing going on, but more often than not it is a really smooth effect for certain musical requirements.

  • Had a lot of fun yesterday experimenting with Syn Dim Strings I and Epic Orchestra 2.0.

There are so many possibilities to combine different articulations. For example when played like a pad, the harmonics articulation of the cello section sounds like an organ on the lowest velocity.
Or combining cello p1 harmonic slow tremolo (-8db) with harmonic sustain and the regular sustain an octave up (-10db) results in some interesting sounds, kind of an ethnic flute (activate huminize detune for each patch).

  • Thanks Stephen, that's good to know. Did you need to build these up from the patches, or is there a way to combine presets? I haven't had much time to fiddle with the Synchron player yet, to unsure of how to do all this.

Would be nice if VSL provided user presets for things like this.

I started with the VSL presets, and then added/subtracted from those. Saves a bit of time that way.
