  • notation articulation

    Hello,

i try to use in dorico (or sibelius) the articulation 0,5sec and 1 sec for strings.

Please what is the symbole or combinatin of symbole in score for using this articulation.

i need to enter it in score for using map expression (if no symbole so wich texte commande please)

    regards,

    Thierry

  • Hello Thierry!

There are no Dorico Expression Maps for our products yet.

I'm not sure which articulations from which library you mean exactly with "0,5sec and 1 sec for strings". In general it's explained in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual how to trigger all the articulations with Sibelius.

  • Andi, if I’m not mistaken, in the past you called 0.5 and 1 sec the articulations later called portato short and long. Paolo

  • So it is in fact

for exemple vc solo string:   VC_mV_0’5s-1+2

    Thank you

  • and my question is too: how to read on the score for this articulation to give to real musiciens

    thank you

  • I would say that the correct notation is the tenuto symbol (the small line over the note), or the tenuto+staccato dot symbol. The sample length should depend on the note length and phrase speed. Paolo

  • Hello Thierry!

The Solo Strings Instrument collection doesn't contain a patch called "VC_mV_0’5s-1+2" or similar. I'm still not sure which patch you want to trigger.

If you want to trigger the detache patches that include shorter non-staccato notes, you can use the Technique Text command "detache".

    Best regards,
    Andi
