  • Finale 26 (Mac) with VEP6 and large orchestra

    Hi

I'm writing a composition which involves a good sized orchestra plus chorus. As a result I need more than 16 channels. For some reason I am having trouble understanding the best practice for setting up this size orchestra with VEP in Finale. In it's audio/midi banks and effects there is room for 8 banks and 128 channels.

What I do in my DAW works well. I usually only need one VEP instance and use VEP1, VEP2...ect. with 16 channels in each. But what is the best way to do this in Finale. It seems to allow only 16 channels per bank so if I try to put my Violins in VEP 2-1 for example, Finale's score manager seems to want me to put an new VEP instance in a different bank. If this sounds confused, it's because I am. :) Again no problem with my DAW (DP10).

Thanks in advance for advice from anyone

  • Hello Paul!

Finale can only host up to 16 channels in one bank. So you need to add a second VE Pro plugin in the second Finale instruments bank. You could use VE Pro Event Input to bring all your instruments to one VE Pro instance.

    Best regards,

  • Thank you, Andi. I’ve never used the Pro Event, but how’s the time to learn! Paul
