How about giving us an option of choosing between getting Epic Orchestra OR 3 license assets? And if someone really wants EO they pay extra for it?

The emails I got from both VSL and ILIO on Feb 19 did not have an expiration date for the intro offer. Where did you see the date you mention?I notice from an email from VSL that the introductory offer expires on Feb 28th, so if we don't get more info on what VEP7 is before then, will this introductory offer be extended ? or do we really just have to buy something and hope it does something we want ?
This is the email I received from VSL:-
If you order Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 you qualify for a free download of our Japanese Giant Taiko Drum bonus library for Epic Orchestra 2.0. This special library portion is not available for purchase and is offered to you exclusively through February 28, 2019.
Doesn't it seem reasonable to be informed what VEP7 is before an introductory offer expires?

That February 28 date is only for the Taiko and not the upgrade price. Yes it is entirely reasonable to know what's in the VEPro 7 upgrade before any offer expires but we do NOT have an expiration date for the upgrade offer itself. It's a question that Paul from Vienna has consistently ignored.I must be missing something. I did the upgrade and paid 75 Euros. I now have 3 VEP 6 licenses and 1 VEP 7 license. I dont understand how people are saying they are losing something with this upgrade.
If you want the update, purchase it. If you dont, dont. If you arent sure, wait.
I will also suggest a couple of things, when Vienna puts VEP 7 on sale, which they inevitably will, likely when VEP 7 is released, by then, you'll have more details. Second, Vienna will continue to support VEP 6 to keep it at least functional for the next year or two. I imagine they arent going to update it for features, but they will continue to fix issues.
I only recently just purchased VEP 6 2 months ago and I am mildly annoyed that there was no consideration for people who just purchased VEP recently, but, it is what it is. Pay the money and move on with your life. You're going to do it anyway, just do it and you dont have to think about it again until VEP 8. Considering how long VEP 6 was out before VEP 7, Im sure VEP 8 will be years away.
Details about the included new features will be added as soon as they have passed all internal tests.
Paul, there's been a phenomenal amount of criticism about having a promo period with no details of VE Pro 7, both here on this forum and even more vocally elswhere. I've never really understood this criticism, as its always been clear that we'll have full details before the introductory discount ends, so those of us uninterested in Epic Orchestra 2.0 can just wait and see - no harm done.
I'll be honest however, this latest Taiko promotion makes me uneasy. Why start it after the announcement? And why only for one week? From your reply here, I'm sure not expecting any details in the coming few days, so now we actually are in the situation the critics were complaining about. One could be forgiven for thinking you guys don't have confidence in VE Pro 7 to sell itself, and need a way to get people to sign up before this is clear.
Hopefully these are just crazy paranoid thoughts, and VE Pro 7 will have the great new features we're hoping for. If so, I'm not sure why you don't extend the Taiko promo right through this pre-sale period.
Would you at least tell us hw long the intro upgrade pricing lasts? Saying that there's no news on the features until it's released isn't cool. You could at least give us a better idea than the scant info that's been seen. This is really angering people.Hi WALTER DELLINGER,
Yes, Epic Orchestra 2.0 is included with any first license of VE Pro 7 (also with an upgrade license).
Details about the included new features will be added as soon as they have passed all internal tests.
Best,
Paul
I understand the unwillingness to announce a date on which VEPro 7 will be available. But I think a statement that the pre-order pricing will be available for N days after the product is introduced (or N days after a full list of new features and improvements is announced) would help restore VSL's credibility, which I think has suffered some damage here.
Hi everbody,
I understand your concerns (although many assumptions and misinterpretations of the information we provide is posted here), so I'll repeat the information that is available from our side:
- more information about the included features will be posted as we can confirm 100% functionality in our internal tests. Of course this information will be available BEFORE the release of the software.
- the introductory price of VE Pro 7 will stay available AT LEAST until those features are announced. You will be informed about every change in pricing in advance and will have enough time to react.
@holywilly: VE PRO 6 and VE PRO 7 will not connect. You will need to purchase additional licenses to upgrade your other VE PRO 6 licenses as well.
I wish you a great start into this new week!
Best,
Paul
Thanks Paul, but notably absent from your post is any comment on this strange one-week-only inducement-to-buy Taiko, which it seems WILL only happen before there is any more publicly available information. IMO it does VSL's cause no favours whatsoever to make it availble in such an artificially constrained manner - it sends a clear message that you want as many people as possible to sign up before they know the details.
My expectations for VE Pro 7 have been reduced accordingly.
Hi,
The Bonus Taiko is an enthusiastic gesture to thank our early adopters for their trust, and also to welcome everbody who is just getting to know our products with VE Pro 7. There's so much to discover with our Synchron Series products, and Epic Orchestra 2.0 is the perfect tool to dive in and check out the possibilities.
Who knows, maybe there will be more free add-ons?
Best,
Paul
A lot of people don't use or care about Epic Orchestra or any of your orchestral libraries. All a lot of us want is to have a functioning VEPro so we can either use multiple computers to spread the load or to more properly use the multiple cpu cores in our computers that our daws don't use. IOW not everyone that uses VEPro cares about orchestral work or has samplers that do the job quite well.Hi,

I remember a time a few years back when one of your competitors in the orchestral music s/w world had a low intro upgrade price on a serious upgrade. Said developer didn't come up with the goods until over a year later and meanwhile earned iterest on our money. Let's hope this isn't the case. Take your time and get it right but at least give us some idea of the features in version 7. There's no need to wait until everything works to at least make an announcement of what we can expect. As I wrote before you're asking us to take a huge leap of faith that not everyone wants to take.

Best,PaulHi Paul, I think you are not addressing the concerns of a lot of people, here and in other forums, about the new upgrade policy, (for a lot of users upgrading cost have doubled, since upgrading last time was 85eur with three licenses), and continue focusing in the added sample material, which they probably have covered. When we bought VEP and built our systems around them we didn’t knew that the price to stay current would double (you have said that development focus is on v7 now), I think you will understand that you look like you are focusing more on new customers than current users, which is healthy for business growth, but you will understand why those users could feel a little neglected. I also know that the sample content is viewed as a gateway to your bigger libraires, but I think the best course would be to present your users an option: if you need vep without any additional licenses, you can purchase it as it stands now, if you need your three licenses, and are not planning to download the orchestra, you can purchase the upgrade (maybe with a cost increase but not double from previous upgrades?). I know that you can charge what you think the market will pay and that’s ok, but I also know that is important to keep customers happy 😊 I say this with the upmost respect, because VEP is very important to my setup, and I wish to keep using and supporting it.
I just logged on ready to make the purchase, then I looked at this thread, and realized how little information there is about VE Pro 7.
Two simple questions:
One - when will the product be released. I don't mean what date, just are we waiting a month? Three months? Six?
Two - is VE Pro 7 Synchron-exclusive, or does it work with previous-generation packages such as VE Special Edition?
So, let's sum up:'THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN' (waow!)Great news, I can't stand learning about the magnificient VEpro7!1- Pre-order (mmm... don't know)3- 'Epic Orchestra 2.0' - once more some old bank recycling, I don't get it, are you talking about VEpro7 or?2- 'Single licenses available!' - it means not 3 licenses anymore, less than before but why not.3- Integrated fx - looks like some Vienna Suite Pro stuff recycling, ok but what about 7 itself?.4- 'Many more features!': waow, I'm impressed, too many infos in one shot, I have to read it once more: 'Many more features!'So, your offer is to pre-order a software we don't know anything else about than 'many more features'. Not one single image or feature, nada. What's 'magnificient' there ? Some recycled stuff, software or bank ?Regarding what I expected from the 'sample reinvention' and the 'ultimate in realism and expressiveness' and what I got then, be assured I won't go to any pre-order for my concern. You definitely have baroque announcements, communication and marketing practises, at least...It looks like, they want to sell us the Epic orchestra, and then we can have VEpro 7 for free.
I just bought Vienna Ensemble Pro last week for my new setup. Are we able to load VEP6 instances in VEP7? Or do we have to rebuild our templates?
