  • Breath controller - velocity crossfade vs. master filter

    Hi there,

This is one for the users and owners of breath controllers (of whatever kind, it doesn't matter).

I've been doinga  bit of playing around with mapping the breath to other things than Velocity X-fade - the master filter gives good results to my ears as well - for some reason wind patches (flutes in particular) seem to play more organically. However, I can't determine whether or not the dfifference is entirely in my imagination.

Does anyone else map Breath to anything other than Vel X-fade, and if so, have you had good results?

On the subject of wind controllers and playability, I'd love the VSL team to explore the possibilities of modelling. I know they're sample experts, but I have, and use the Samplemodeling French Horns and, while the sound quality isn't up to VSL standards, I'd be highly enthused by what the Vienna team could accomplish in this space if they decided to. The lower footprint (samples, RAM etc) and increased playability make working with samplemodeling stuff a relative joy, and it all happens so quickly, as opposed to the (in my entirely subjective opinion of course) often laborious and sometimes frustrating process of sample programming. Idle thoughts, nothing more.

    Thanks for any input.

    Mike
