  • articulation control with midi fader.

Hi, I have purchased a 'Novation LaunchControl' ( for midi control ) this has 8 midi faders and 24 control knobs , designed primarily for control use with Ableton......but I'm told that it will work with any software that can be controlled with midi. I only want to use the 8 faders on the LaunchControl to control articulations, expression, velocity, volume, attack, release, dynamics etc. in Vienna Instruments Pro.  I am using Cubase 9.5  with Windows 10. I have searched for info on how to configure this with VI Pro and tried various things with no success. I would really appreciate any assistance, the more detailed the better.

I have a midi keyboard connected and working with my own orchestral template. The Novation LaunchControl is connected by USB.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • I think most people use keyswitches for articulation changes on the X Axis because the more articulations (patches) you load the harder it is to move the fader to just the right articulation but, in the basic view, I think you load some patches then go to the upper right hand side of the GUI where it says"Matrix Control" there's a button next to where it says "X-Axis." click on it and some options should come up.  Then click on "wheel" or "controller" maybe.

As for Expression, Attack and the others click on the big box underneath each fader and some options come up like Expression, etc.  Basically you assign a function to each fader then right click on the fader itself and move an appropriate fader on your MIDI controller to MIDI learn the function to that controller.
