I installed the most recent update of Vienna Ensemble 6 the other day and it corrupted my computer taking out my OS drive (1TB SSD) and Sample Library Drive (3TB 7200RPM, SATA III) hard drives. Hopefully no one else will have this happen to them. Make sure you have a recent backup before applying the most recent update to VE6.
2 days later, I'm just getting back up and running thanks to a TimeMachine backup and my Drobo backup system.
I unfortunately don't have the information of which update it was as my entire computer went down after installing it and my most recent backup of my OS Drive was about 1 month ago. I don't beleive that I lost my work from the session as I keep that on a separate drive from my OS Drive.
I was opening a project in Logic Pro X and VE6, a familiar popup told me that there was a update available for VE6 that fixed a few things one of them with MIR Pro crashing. I clicked on the update, it told me it would be closing VE to apply the update. All seemed pretty standard... Then when I tried bringing up the project it wasn't loading correctly, I did a reboot of Logic and VE and it was stalled.... Finally I did a restart of the computer and it would not finish booting. YIKES!!!
Some 2 days later I figured out that it was not hardware but a software issue, I ended up reformating my System Drive and applied a Restore from my TimeMachine backup and finally getting back up and running. However, one of my main Sample Library Hard drive was also corrupted in the process. It was unfixable and had to be wiped as well. I'm searching for the backup files on my sample library now and trying to restore what was on that drive.
