  • Yamaha CFX Installation

I just purchased the Synchron Yamaha CFX and the setup has been a nightmare.  It is insanely complex.  I used Download Manager to get the files, installed them, then the manual says you need to run Synchron Library Installer and it looks like the whole process starts again!  After that I can't find whatever app is supposed to run the actual software. It does not appear in Vienna Instruments Pro and I do not see any standalone app.  The only thing under the "Vienna Synchron Pianos" folder is the "Synchron Library Installer"  there is no standalone app. How do you play the instrument?  It does not even show up in Vienna Instruments Pro.  Where is it?  What interface is used to open and play the instrument and where is it?  :-)

    Hi Mike,

Sorry to see that you're having troubles there.

If you ran the installation from within the Download Manager, you don't need to install the sample content again.

All you need is to install the Synchron Pianos Software and you're good to go.

There is, however, no standalone software for Synchron Pianos, it is "only" a plug-in which you can insert in your sequencer.

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks Paul!  I got it.  I was freaking out for a while.  😊  In time I am going to want to buy a second SSD and move the Yamaha to it.  Is that pretty easy to do?  Would I have to reinstall?

    Thanks,

    Mike

What is nice about VSL folders is you may just move them with a conventional copy/paste or drag and drop action.

(and wait a bit since they are big 😊 😉

After you moved them, you have to inform the player of the new location, but it's an easy task you perform into the "Database" window of the preferences (the usual little icon of gearwheel on right top corner of the GUI).

Open it, press the littl "+" on the bottom left, and navigate to the new location, save and you are ready to play.

A good idea is to remove the old location to avoid confusion (selct it and press the little "-" same left bottom position)
