  • Clarinet tuning

I'm having problems with the tuning on the clarinet patches (basic and perf-leg), consistently under compared to say Flute or EHorn. I've re-installed to see if that would cure the problem but no dice. I also double checked the quick edit in case I bumped the tuning but it is still set at 0ct.

Is this the nature of the beast?

  • Must be something wrong somewhere, as I've found all the woodwinds to be wonderfully in tune, yet not too sterile. I use the clarinet in Opus I quite a bit, as well as the E flat Clar. in the French Oboe library, and tuning is fine. Anybody else have any ideas?

  • Hi,

the tuning should be perfectly fine with all instruments. Is it just these articulations or others, too?

Could you give an example of two notes with other instruments?

  • It was happening with the Basic_all and with the perf_leg mf instruments. As it was happening with these instruments (the ones I would most likely use) I didn't check the others. I can put together an mp3 of what I'm hearing against, say harp or Eng Horn and make it available first thing Monday.

    Thanks for you responses

  • It's almost too embarassing to report...deep down I was afraid that this had to be a user error but then again I thought I'd checked everything.

Anyway, after testing against other woodwinds before, as a final test I laid in a different clarinet articulation to play parallel with the clarinet basic instrument which I believed to be out of tune. The new clarinet played perfectly in tune.

Only then did I realise I had managed somehow to move the Giga tuning slider value to 0.30 [*-)] I had checked quickedit tuning but not this. Thanks to hoff and paul for the posts.

If there was a 'self-flagellating' emoticon I would use several in my signature... [8-)]
