  • Repetition trigger key in a legato patch

Can anyone explain what this key is supposed to do?

I don't get it. A legato patch in Kontakt played through the performance tool doesn't play the actual note if held through the repetition trigger key press. I can accomplish this by just not playing the note to begin with.

Anyone ever use the repetition trigger here?

    Thanks,

No one here can explain simply what the repetition key accomplishes in the performance tool for a Horizon legato patch? Mods?

    Thanks for your time,

  • it triggers a repetition note,
without this function key a normal startnote will be triggered,
with this function key a "intervall sample without intervall" will be triggered,
there is only one longer repetion note - that's the difference to dedicated performance repetetion samples

  • You can change your starting note ...

  • So what you're saying is that there is an alternate for the starting note, correct? In this case you can play the alternate starting note to prevent the start notes from sounding exactly the same, but the notes are basically the same (correct?), and for the most part will sound the same except to the trained ear which might be more sensitive to repeating samples which are exactly the same.

If I'm getting it wrong, then what does "intervall sample without intervall" mean?

    Thanks again,

  • Hi fizbin,

the repetition note is not_an_alternative_starting_note, it is a repetition of the starting note. That means, that there is a different attack, because the string is already swinging (or the instrument is already filled with air). There is also a minimal transition sound from the note played before. It´s basically the same system as with the repetitions, but only for ONE note.

That´s what Herb meant by "an intervall without an intervall". But basically that´s the system behind it.

You make it work this way: Before you release the note you want to repeat in Legato Mode, press the Repetition Function Key and then hit the same note again. The difference is subtle with most instruments, but it is there.

  • OK - I see how it works now. Some of the Kontakt patches do not have the extra repetition layer so nothing plays in this case and I was getting confused by the apparent non-functionality.

    Thanks,
