  • performance Spiccato in Solo Strings

    hello,
i'm having trouble with the performance Spiccato in Solo Strings,(the detache's as well).
I can't find a tool preset for it.
Also, I ca't find a performance tool manual for the solo strings anywhere.
Could some please point me to the exact location of the manual.
    Thanks,
    RAVEL

  • Use the legato tool.

    Best,
    Jay

  • Jay,
    What, are you a comedian?
    No seriously,
For me, the legato tool does not work with the program called, "VI-PERF-SPICCATO" or "VI-DETACHE". What I get sounds like a double stop, in the wronge octive.
I'm guessing that I've loaded the incorrect performance tool pre-set, only, there does not seam to be an option to load a performence tool other than what you mentioned, The legato tool.
(Oddly enough, I purchased the Performance tool tutorials, and it answers none of my questions. It's more like an Sales Ad for VSL. Well, I allready purchased it, I don't need to be sold on it, I just want to know how to make these tools work correctly).
I'm wondering if the problem might be the fact that I'm using the VSL pro edition with the Horizon series. Maybe I'm supposed to use a different version of the performance tool, (which does not make sensec because the legato tool works fine with programs like, "VI-PERF-LEG-P"
If any one could help me with these questions, I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you,
    RAVEL

  • Make sure you use the "Hor-Legato" for all Horizon products and the "Legato" for all Pro Edition products. Forgetting to do this will cause problems similar to the ones you are describing. Both the Pro edition and the Horizon Solo Strings have the same solo violin articulations. But you still must use the "Hor-legato" if you're using the solo violin articulations that came with the Horizon Solo Strings and the "legato" when you're using the solo violin that came with the Pro Edition.

    Jay

  • Jay,
In my set-up, The only Legato tool I have is the Hor-Legato.
I never installed the solo strings from the pro edition because I already had them installed from the solo strings, (I purchased the Pro edition later) and I don't have the Performance set installed on this computer.
I'm not sure what the program called, "VI-PERF-SPICCATO" or "VI-DETACHE" should sound like only I know I should not be hearing double stops and strange octives. Is there I way to manually set the parameters, or could you tell me where and what preset I should load after I've set the performance tool to Hor Legato?
    Thanks,
    RAVEL

  • The perf-spicc and detaches do have the same concept like the legatos, therefor you have to use the legato mode with the performance tool.
There is only one preset, because the presets for legato, detache, marcato are absolute identical.

What are the performance detaches, amd spiccati:
Each intervall step was samples and depending the intervalls you perform on your keyboard the right samples are triggered.
    You see, same as legato.

As Jay mentioned: if you work with the instrument database of the Horizon solo strings you have to use the Hor-Legato mode.
if you work with the instrument database of the Pro Edition (Violin and Cello only) you have to use the normal Legato mode.

  • Ravel, use the "01 VI_perf-leg.pal" with the "Hor_legato" setting. Should work.

    Best,
    Jay

  • Thanks everyone for your help.
I think the problem is in my GIGA studio.
I've finally gotten the Performance spiccato to work by loading it to a different port, (in this case From G3port 1 to G3Port 3) and it works and sounds great as well.
    Thanks again,
    RAVEL

  • One more question.
It seams to me that in my performance tool I should have the option to select LEGATO and not just HOR-LEGATO, knowing that I Purchased the Pro edition which does have the solo violin which I do believe shipped with Repitition/Legato performences.
But, since I never loaded the solo violin, maybe I'm wronge and there are no legato performances with it.
Just to double check, I re installed the performance tool and ran the Response Key, And still, no LEGATO option under ShowEnabledModes.

  • I had a similar problem until I registered the products that were not showing up in the performance tool. An example would be the guitar. When I registered the guitar, and then went the process of getting the performance tool response key re-ran, the guitar legato showed up.

Does anyone know why there are no 'ordinary' multi-samples for the violin spiccato? I.e. a violin spiccato patch that does not require the performance tool.
