  • SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings Sibelius Sound Set and Cubase Expression Maps

    Hello!

The VSL Soundset Installer for Sibelius (1.0.137) has been updated for the SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings. This collection can now be used with the "VE Strings" sound set. All details on how to use it can be found in the updated "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual.

The "Synchron Strings I" Expression Maps for Cubase have been adapted to work with the SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings as well.

  • Hi Andy,

I am trying to get "SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings" and "Synchron Strings I" to play "legato non vibrato at the same time(synchronized) in sibelius.

Synchron Strings 1st first violins tree does this

legato>auto-speed>normal>no vibrato. This is working as expected

SYNCHRON-ized Chamber 1st Strings does this

legato>auto-speed>normal. There is no "no vibtrato" in this tree.

The only place I see it for SYNCHRON-ized Chamber 1st Strings is

    legato>normal>no vibrato.

    How do I rectify this.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Hello Dave!

Thanks for pointing this out. I have fixed legato non vibrato for the SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings in the "VE Strings" sound set in Soundset Installer 1.0.138.

  • Thank you Andi,

    It's working now.

  • Hi Andi,

Will there be an expression map for the "strings all" patches?

    Best,

    Eliot

  • Hello Eliot!

It wasn't planned initially, but if there's popular demand, I could make one.

  • Thanks Andi,

I don't know how others compose but I would find an expression map for the "strings all" patches useful for sketching.

  • Thanks,

I am also having trouble getting Detache to work for SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings.

In the manual I only see two references to detache.

    1) Detache: Create the Technique Text command “detache”.

2)Detache short: Create the Technique Text command “short”.

I tried both, but no luck. Can you verify on your end that detache works. I use is all the time for Dimension Strings and it works.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  • Hello Dave!

Thanks for reporting. You are right. Detache has not been added for SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings yet. I will add it for the next update of the VSL Soundset Installer.

  • I'm trying to figure out how to use the Synchronized Chamber Strings with Sibelius (8). I did RTFM, but I still need help.

I've installed the latest Sibelius Soundsets. Clicking on the soundset normally loads the samples, but clicking on anything in the Chamber Strings menu just loads the soundset with red empty sample slots, because I don't have the original library. Is there supposed to be a *Synchronized* Chamber Strings option in this menu?

They sound great when loaded as a plugin, like Vienna Imperial, but they (obv) don't play back correctly in Sibelius. I can't figure how to use this library as instruments within VEP.

    Thanks,

    Clare

  • Hello Clare!

This sounds like you were trying to load a VI preset in the Vienna Instruments player. SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings can only be loaded with Synchron Player. This player can be downloaded here:

  • You're right, I did conflate VI presets with Sibelius Soundsets. I was aware of the Synchron Player, but I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting correct basic articulations in it, so I was grasping at straws.

The problem was the Program name/Sound IDs I had loaded in the Sibelius Playback Devices dialogue. I loaded Chamber Strings. You have to load Synchron Strings instruments.

And then everything works really well.

Thanks again for your time Andi,

    Clare
