I'm just trying to find my way around VSL and am having problems with trying to play a very long note on the violin using pleg. After 10 seconds the note cuts out (I am using it with a TecControl breath controller.) I would really appreciate any help.

the sustain part of performance legato samples are not looped in the solo strings collection.
For the other string (and wood / brass) libraries there is a "performance legato sustain" patch, which crossfades into looped sustain after the legato.
With the Solo Strings you have to handle this yourself by re-triggering the note, just like a real strings-player has to re-bow on long notes.

Or, I think you could crossfade the Performance Legato with a Sustain patch using the Cell Crossfade feature
