• Paolo, that is funny, thanks for that info.

I was thinking that what is happening in English is:  Sack-but(t)  =  Fat-ass

Sorry, I realized that is crude and not at all in keeping with proper language on the website of a fine company dedicated to the highest standards of musical excellence.  Also, I mean no offense to all the sackbuts out there.  No matter how much weight they have to lose.

William, I'm sure the sackbuts out there were not offended! They were too buzy eating a cornetto for breakfast!

@Itchy an all other forum members: As you might know, this is a company driven maEssage board. May I politely ask you to refrain from posting ads for competitor's products. Places like VI Control or the like would be the place for that. Thanks!

    What a pleasant surprise😊

When did VSL started offering massages? That's what I like about VSL they are always ahead of the zeitgeist.  I expect the competition to soon follow suit and start offereing sackbut massages too😛😛😛

(I'm sorry Dietz I just couldn't resist.)  I hope my humour helped brighten your day as it was all meant in good fun 😃

  • Dietz, point taken; my apologies. Please know, fwiw, I posted the pic in an effort to assist a fellow-VSL user; only intended as a visual statement that a certain instrument exists. That said, this was my bad. In the bigger scope of the word, I see that sort of thing is indeed an advertisement.

  • How does one delete an image attached to a previous post?

  • Don't bother. No need to feel bad or to edit your posting, I just wanted to make sure that things don't get out of hand just because "nobody said anything". :-)

  • Interesting, no one mentions the lute...

  • Just a little experiment. Does it sound believable?

    Paolo

  • Hi Paolo, I just heard your little experiment.
I don't know if this is ringing or that I'm totally wrong, but the f4 (with the Vienna Equalizer Pro it is very easy to determine frequencies with the keyboard in its window), that is about 349 Hz, when you diminish that frequency, it becomes in my ears much more natural. It is just that frequency, so I used Q between 15 and 20, to just affect that particular frequency.
But the melody as a whole sounds beautiful to me and believable.
But at the end, I'm not a string player... and they listen in a different way, hear much more, I discovered.

  • MMKA, thank you very much for listening, and congratulation for your fine ear! The piece is indeed transposed one semitones higher (tuned at A = 466Hz), and the scale is based on a meantone temperament. I was thinking this would have contributed to the realism of a late-Renaissance piece. VIPRO and Logic allow it, so I did it! Paolo
