  • Studio Monitors..

after much browsing i've decided to invest in mid-priced studio monitors. (looking at $399US)

i've narrowed the field down to the Event tr-6.

anyone have experiences with these? or other models in this price range you'd strongly suggest i look into. thanks!

  • I'll move this thread to the Mixing/PostPro-forum. BTW - we had quite a few interesting discussion on the monitors-topic in the last few months. Just srcoll down a bit once you're in the Mixing-forum [;)]

    All the best,

  • I just bought the m-aduio LX4 system 2 weeks ago and I'm still wiping up the drool. [:D]

what most impresses me is the quality of sound for the price point. I would have paid ~$600 and still been satisfied. The mids aren't quite as transparent as I'd like, but thats just nitpicking when you realize they only cost $270. Plus, the mixes port very very well. My next set will probably be blue sky, and these will turn into my second reference set as "el-cheapos."

  • I'm glad to see someone else who discovered the LX4's! For the price, they're pretty amazing. For my home composing setup I really couldn't ask for a better value. Having a sub makes all the difference. But most importantly, my mixes hold up just fine when I bring them back to the studio.

I'm going to add the surround speakers soon, and I'll have a capable 5.1 setup at home for under $500.00 US total. Highly recommended for those on a tight budget!

actually I bought them on advice from other forum members here.

you may want to get the expansion right now, since musician's friend still has it for half list. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/603704/

  • Thanks for that great tip! I just hope that incredibly low price doesn't mean they're discontinuing them, or something.

  • I think they just got overstocked on them, otherwise they'd be clearing out the 2.1 system as well as the expansion.
