I am getting to grips with VSL slowly, but surely and my chamber music scores are working well and the sounds are amazing. However I cannot get some instruments to sustain the written note lengths in larger scores. This is especially the case with low woodwinds & low brass. I use Sibelius 8 to write my music direct to score, like a pen. So if I write, say, half note, dotted quarter note, eighth note and copy across on all the score, some lower instruments come out as sixteenth note, silence, sixteenth note silence etc. Other instruments are fine and sustain as they should.
I can see that the 'sample' or patch being triggered is the wrong one on the rogue instruments, but don't know how to get them to play legato correctly. I've tried putting in the indications 'sus' 'legato' 'norm' etc in Sibelius, but the notes still come out as short ones. They sound like the Monty Python Knights who like to say "Ni". I want them to say Naaaaa!
I am sure I am missing something obvious, but would be grateful for any pointers to help.
I am using iMAC 3.5Ghz i7 with 32 GB RAM and various external hard drives, Sibelius 2018, Vienna Ensemble and basic library. The instruments that don't sustain are not restricted to any particular external hard drive.
