    Just got my Kontakt 2 and loaded up a bunch of VSL bundled instruments. Nice sounds guys! I love the legato flute and horn ensemble. Both are used in this track along with celeste (beautiful sound) and harp (also lovely). Sadly, my controller keyboard is a RD300SX which I love except for the stupid padel which makes it difficult to really use the crossfade sounds effectively. Drawing in mod changes in Sonar bites too. Oh well.

    Just wanted to say, very cool sounds. And I mixed everything through the 5.1 channel which makes everything more sonically detailed. Couldn't use the convolution reverb though as it was driving Sonar batty- the CPU would spike at 80% and I wanted to use several instruments. This is all VSL Kontakt 2. No other sample libs were used, proving that this is a great package.

    very good. reminds me of delius which suggests by comparison that he might have moved away from tonic a bit to develop this wonderful palette. criticism, yes but hopefully taken constructively and perhaps with a grain of salt as this is indeed musical. Others may weigh in on performance/sampling details but dont think for a minute that this diminishes the composition that shines through.

    Hey Martin, thanks for the feedback. To be honest, this thing didn't really take too long. I just wanted to spit something out so I could see how the samples would sound. And also how Kontakt 2 handles things. Pretty neat stuff. Lots of sounds/articulations to choose from. I still find some a little more stringent than what I'm used to but most of my writing is done on EWQLSO Gold. But, like anything it has its shortcomings- ones that VSL nicely fits the bill with, especially in the solo woodwind category...and harp...and legato instruments..you get the idea.

    Yep - very nice sound Dave. Well done. No worries there.

    At about 1.07, when it goes into Newman style, watch your legatos playing on the strings. It's no problem and we all do it - but the transitions get ever so slightly choppy and you may want to look at that and velocity adjustment. But very nice sound though.

    Yes, Martin has said it well, and i agree with his appraisal. A little further from the tonic would bring this idea forward. It's a good idea and deserves more exploration. Delius is also a good example, and as one unkind violin player said to me many years ago, Delius was the 4 chord man of classical music! (Status Quo eat your heart out)

    And like Martin, i agree this composition is sound. You have a good sense of 'sound' and balance.
    Do yourself a favour, explore this.

    I really liked the mood of this, and the flute harp celesta section. The phrasing on flute is very believable. Good composition - my only disappointment was that it ended!

    Excellent mockup of your piece. I love the subtle crescendos toward the end of the piece that make the piece seem alive and not mechanical, which is so hard to avoid doing. Nice.
