  • Please provide in MIR-Synchronstage venue a positionmap of the Synchron-Instruments

When it comes to blend former VSL-Instruments with the new Synchron series it would be good to have in the MIR Synchronstage venue an exact orientation for the positioning of older Instruments right to blend with the synchron series.

For the strings there already exist at least this image where still no indication for the place of the Synchron Percussion or Winds is marked.

I would prefer it to see that map in the MIR-UI itself to position the added former VSL exactly in the place where the corresponding Synchron-sections are recorded.

  • I took a screenshot from the video "Synchron Strings Vienna Ensemble Projects", at 3:26 (https://www.vsl.co.at/de/Synchron_Series/Synchron_Strings_I#!Videos). Shows every instrument group except choir.

  • I also saw in the Namm Video. that there is a small map in the Synchronplayer.

But what I am talking about are kind of stage marks which I think should be available inside the Synchronstage MIR-Venue to be sure that the blended older VSL-Samples are recorded from the same positon, where the Syncronsections are recorded.

This could not be a great problem to program, but it would be a great help to combine both types of libraries with the Synchronstage-Venu in MIR

As far as I understand they are talking about MIRx-Presets. What I am talking about is just a visual orientation for positioning Player in the Synchronstage Venue to let them correspond to those Synchron-Series instruments to which you would like to blend them. Since we do have that much different String-Sections already available it would be necessary to let the user decide which Library he wants to add to the Synchronsamples and therefore it is necessary to know where exactly the Synchoninstruments are positioned, to place the Libraries to add to them on exactly the same place.

As I said I suppose that would be not that a great thing to program or even just constantly mark in the Synchronstage-Venue-UI, but would be a great, needed and absolutly necessary help.

A smal step for Dietz but a giant Leap for the Music-programming Synchronseries-VSL-User-mankind 😉

  • Thanks for your input!

A "notepad layer" for all kinds of memos and hints is on the list of features I want to see in MIR Pro since years, but there is no available software engineering man power to implement anything new as long as other projects aren't finished (Synchron Player, most notably). This is as dissatisfying for me as it is for you, but I don't have better news to tell, sorry to say so.

On a different note: I'm halfway done with the "classical" version of MIRx presets for Synchron Stage already - i.e. the version that makes sure that the positions of all instruments are consistent throughout the whole MIRx product line. A "synchronized" version which adheres to the orchestration concept of VSL's Synchron Instruments series will follow ASAP ("somewhen in spring 2018", as I wrote in several other threads on this topic :-) .... ). There are a few loose ends, though, which have to get sorted out before.

    Thanks for your patience! :-)

  • Glad to hear that Dietz! Any chance it will be done this month while the sale is running?

    Not very likely.    😕

  • Any chance of preorders during February? ;)

  • I did a post in another thread. The following information are very helpful for me, and maybe for you, too.

    Recording chart from Synchron Percussion:
    https://www.vsl.co.at/de/Percussion_Complete/Synchron_Percussion_I

The introduction video (watch at 2:30) from Synchron Stage:
    https://www.synchronstage.com

And there is a similar from-above-view in the MIR RoomPack Synchron Stage Vienna Manual. It's in the user area, I don't know the direct link. The advantage here (and also in the video above) is that it also shows the positions of harp and piano.

Thank you Dietz for your answer. I fear you just took me not as simple as I put it.

As far the Synchronstage-Venue is intended to allow the combination of exsisting VSL-Libraries with the new Synchron series it is essential to have the reference for the instrumentposition.

Actually this map of recordingpositions would be nearly exactly what we need to see in the Synchronstage instead of the empty floor:(Thank you Pixelpoet for the good hint👍)

I think you do not need any notepad layer nor any further software development capacities at all.

It is as simple as sufficient just to replace the .png or .jpg with the empty floor we currently see in the Synchronstage-venue with that map.

And if anyone in your staff is able to you can add any where in the VE/MIR-UI a littie button to chose the empty floor or the reference floor if you prefer it. Thats all what a "software developper" could do to make this visual synchronseries-reference a chosable option..

  • Hi all, I hoped for an Integration of the percussion-map in MIR since the release of the Synchron Percussion I and I am wondering why this request comes so late. I can absolutely understand what Stephen wants. Such a map brings orientation and organization. ;)

  • I did mayself a map of the synchron stage with MIR coordinates (I'll attach it).
It is not as comfortable as a build-in solution, but it helped me placing the instruments in the room.

Presets? Very good Idea, not only in respect to the acoustic position, but of course to assure coherent Volumes not only insinde Synchronseries (which is already a very good idea), but finally also likewise among all VSL-Libraries. But this will (hopefully) perhaps better be done when you manage to adjust the earlier VSL-Libraries to be usable in the Synchronplayer. (Sorry I know I am an awful demanding VSL-User and that each detail I ask for is presumably very much work to do for the VSL-Crew. I nevertheless am still confindent that VSL will be able to 😉)
