I did a performance of Beethoven's Fifth 1st Movement using Synchron Strings with MIR Synchron for the winds and timpani. The 2nd violins and violas are missing legato because they are not yet finished so I substituted sustains for those.

  • Hi William,

I just listened to the composition, and it sounds great. I really like the sound of these strings. Thanks for sharing.

    Regards,
    Richard

  • Thanks Richard.  I am still experimenting with the sound and integrating the older instruments.  But I had done this with the Appassionata Strings and it was fairly straightforward to replace with the Synchron Strings.

  • The strings do sound pretty good in this in a lot of places. You can really notice the dynamics in the shorts.

  • Superb! I really enjoyed that.

    xx

  • Hi, can i ask what is the difference between synchron and the old (for example orchestra strings)? Is it only the number of mic and layers? Thanks.

  • thanks Lucy and Eptesicus

Kamil there are a lot of differences as they are totally different recordings, numbers of players, articulations. Also the previous libraries are recorded on the Silent Stage and have no built-in reverb/ambience while Synchron does. And Dimension Strings is different from all the others for its technique of using individual mics on players performing as an ensemble.

  • Thanks, William.

Wow, sounds really great! I admit to having a difficult time with Synchron Strings. This is the absolutely best thing I have heard using the library so far. Not that the official demos are bad, but this really outshines them.

I love the mix. I love the way you have integrated the existing instruments. I was doing an A/B comparison with an actual recording and this is the weird thing, Synchron Strings do NOT sound like an actual recording. But somehow they sound better than real. Is that weird or what?

  • Thanks Paul, I am not yet feeling sure of how to use Synchron and this was an attempt.
