  • Synchron and Sibelius

    Hello Andi,

I realise this question is a little early in the scheme of things, but could you say if VSL will provide a soundset and Sibelius Presets for the new Synchron Strings?

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Oceanview!

There will be a Sibelius sound set for the Synchron Strings.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hello Andi,

I have just watched Paul's demo of the Synchron cello samples, which is very impressive. But it raised further questions in my mind concerning how many of these possibilities are going to be available within Sibelius playback. For example, the cross-fading technique, the several different types of legato - different commands to trigger them? and also the crescendo / diminuendo samples. Anything you can say about this?

    Best wishes.

  • Hello Oceanview!

To trigger the the different types of legato with Sibelius, you will simply have to add techniques text commands to your score. To make crossfades, you will have to add MIDI CC commands. For Velocity X-Fade, you can use hairpins.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Thanks Andi - that's reassuring. I hope VSL won't forget those of us using Sibelius (and similar notation software) to trigger playback rather than playing from a keyboard. I will be very interested to see the capacities of the Synchron Player also in this regard.

  • Hi, Synchron Strings have a great sound!!....but for those of us who work with sibelius we need the Soundset...please!!...

  • Hello Andi,

In connection with Synchron Strings and Sibelius, will it be possible to use the legato blur feature in Sibelius? If so, how would this work in practice in terms of the score itself playing back?

Best wishes for the New Year.

  • Hello Oceanview!

Legato blur can be controlled with MIDI CC commands. From Sibelius this works with the syntax ~Cxx,yy. (xx = controller number, yy = value).

    Best wishes,
    Andi

  • They launch a product ... it is said that a Soundset will be included for the users of sibelius software ... but it still does not happen ... is it a mockery? .... in the best of cases this is a disrespect with the client, I bought a product under certain considerations, one of them is that a soundset for Synchron Strings would be launched ... but of course, what pressure capacity can we have if each one complains separately?.....there should be a trade union of VSL users.

  • In fairness to VSL, they did not say a Sibelius soundset would be 'included' with the initial launch of Synchron strings. They said there would be one, in time. It is clear that the launch of Synchron has been a complicated process and one which is going to take longer perhaps than was anticipated. My impression is that the number of people who work with VSL samples in Sibelius is probably a minority. So the soundset is not so much of a priority. As a Sibelius user myself, I will not consider purchasing Synchron until everything is in place. That's fine by me, as I am not in a hurry.

  • Hello utoatoto_16780!

We are working hard on our Synchron Player. If we would release a sound set for the Synchron Strings now, this sound set wouldn't work for the Synchron Player version. Then two different sound sets would have to be available, which would produce big confusion among customers. So I have to kindly ask you to have a little patience with us. This is neither disrespect, nor mockery.

    Best regards,
    Andi
