  • Auto divisi Dimension Strings like Dimension Brass?

    Hi,

Some days ago I purchased both Dimension Brass and Dimension Strings. The Dimension Brass blew me away! Wonderful, it works pretty good for sketiching for big band too!

But the strings are organized in a very different way. As far as I understand it this is more to be considered as a sound mixing approach instead of an algorythm like Dimension Brass. I was hoping to be blown away by playing chords and hear the beautiful and lush divisi playing of some wonderful recorded strings.
They ARE recorded wonderfully, in mono . . . for a reason too - I read in the manual - but I must admit that I am slightly disappointed with the product.

I won't ask for a refund, it is just that it'll take more time to understand this "new" workflow. New in parenthesese because it reminds me of the first edition of samples where you had to stack all articulations on multiple slave drives/computers. Vienna Instruments and Ensemble took away a lot of this hussle, fortunately. Now it seems to come back . . . is it still work in progress, zooming towards the same workflow as the wonderful Dimension Brass Library? I really hope so.

Maybe I've missed something and the auto-div function is there where I overlooked it. I really really hope so. If so can you point me to it?

Thank you for making these wonderful products!

    Hi Arnold,

Glad to hear that you like Dimension Brass!

Please check out the videos we made, showing the possibilities with Dimension Strings.

You can either write for separate players and take care of each player in a dedicated Vienna Instruments (PRO) instance, or have ALL or some players available in one Vienna Instruments PRO instance (check the various VI PRO Presets), with "Humanize" feature or making use of the auto-divisi possibilities.

    Best,
    Paul

Blown away again by exploring the actual mic position recordings. Very nice!

But I fail to hear the auto divisi. (and it actually plays back Which knob do I have to turn on for that? My Guess is: Voice/4 Groups/1-2 + 3-4 + 5-6 +7-8 ?

Then there is a difference in sound, but it sounds a little bit weird.

Here is a little test wav.
