    This was an experiment I wanted to try using the Vienna Symphonic Library Special Editions 1 and 2 only. I think it needs more work in a few spots but I believe it's not a bad first try. Just for fun....

    If this is an experiment, it's a great one fur sure. Very promising indeed.

    One could discuss the interpretation and the size of the orchestra, the choice of articulations here and there, but as I said, it's a matter of interpretation and taste. Fact is, we don't know exactly how Mozart would have liked it.

    What you did is amazing and so realistic. With a few adjustments, it will be just perfect!

    I agree on that - it sounds very good overall.   That is probably Mozart's greatest symphony, certainly his most complex and mature.  It is strange to think how all of Mozart's music is "Early Works." What would he have done if he lived to 80?

    I agree. This is really well done. Could be definitely improved but its already a very impressive rendition and nice interpretation too!

    It's a fantastic demo for the SE - well I've got SE 1 but not 2 - so I'd love to know which sounds come from which in your recording.

    The rendition is very impressive. Excellent work - and my following critique is nothing to do with your programming but the libraries themselves.

    I think the strings are the weak link here - I am truly amazed at the winds and the realism and warmth, but the strings do sound particularly thin.

    I'm delving into Dimension strings at the moment and also have appassionata. I have a feeling that I may not be able to resist the early bird discount on Synchron strings but may be wasting my money. I do have most of the Spitfire stuff which allegedly rivals this new VSL range, but I have always struggled with strings and so aften feel disappointed with demos - it's usually the dynamic range, and also the realism of the dynamics.

    Richard. Well, after looking at what I did closely, I only used Special Edition 1 on this piece (I dont own the "plus" addition). None of the Special Edition 2 instruments were needed. The articulations used in the strings were sus, leg, det, sta, and sfz. The wind articulations used were sus, leg-sus, leg, sta, and sfz.

    I don't always use sta for staccato notes.....for the strings sometimes I use det or leg and just shorten the note/play time in Sonar to get a staccato sound... it all depends how the sound comes out but that technique sometimes helps to create a better sounding staccato passage. I also use x-fade and expression to control for every instrument (manual input instrument by instrument). The volume of each instrument is only adjusted when I set the final mix... this is just a tweaking process. My reverb is VSL instrument reverb set to about 35 on each instrument, Then I use a tad bit of reverb for the master channel but just a hint more.
