  • VEP 6.0 and DP 9.5: frequent crashes

    Hi --

I'm relatively new to VEP.  I have 6.0 (6.0.16419) and working with DP 9.5.  I have a MacPro (2016) with 64GB memory, running OS 10.11.6 (El Capitan).  I'm using Kontakt 5 with huge Spitfire audio samples in tandem with Aria with a few Garritan samples.  The pieces I am working on involve very little audio (a single track, voice) but full orchestral accompaniment.

I run VEP/DP on the MacPro only (no LAN).  The Mac keeps up with plently of wiggle room.

The problem is this:  VEP bombs out on me from 8 - 12 times a day,  often when I'm not even doing anything on the system.  It just stops.  Sometimes it's in the middle of operations in DP, though I can't remember it ever going out during an actual playback or while printing an AIFF file.  Besides creating much frustration and frequently breaking up creative flow, it negates the feature of setting the samples in memory and not having to reload them again.  This cycle may take up to 5 minutes because it stops DP until VEP unloads the samples and puts up the "VEP just quit.  Do you want to re-open?" notification.

Typically I have  instances loaded, and 6-12 instruments on each.  All told, I'm using about 43 GB of Mac's memory, and the processor is seldom heavily taxed.

    Anything I should be checking?

    Hellllllp!
