  • [SOLVED] Help Please - Unwanted artifacts and sound drop outs

I am using Cubase 8.5 in a single computer, no slaves. I have windows 7 pro, Intel Core i7 @ 3.2 gjz (8 cores) and 48 gb of RAM. Samples are on SSD.

When I attempt a loud full orchestra tutti passage with lots of ff and marcatto attacks I get a loud knocking sound and many instruments drop out. This is especially noticable with the brass. I am using a combination of Brass I instruments and Dimension Brass instruments.

I can monitor the load on the computer with windows task manager and the CPU load never exceeds 20% and the memory used is only 10gb, so this must be some kind of issue with VI Pro or MIR Pro.

This happens if I run MIR Pro with VE or as a stand alone plug in. Same result.

Please help. What could be going wrong?

  • Hi Paul,

Did you try to increase the Preload Size for your SSD drives (in the Directory Manager)? That should help with the tutti problematic.

Otherwise, increase the buffer size of your soundcard and/or VE PRO.

    Best,
    Paul

Thanks, I will give those two things a try!

Thank you Paul, it worked. I increased the Prload size and that cleared up all of the trouble. No more issues.
