Hi,
When first starting to use VSL libraries, I was looking for the most detailed orchestration approach. One note, one instrument, nothing more. I couldn't explain what the combined instruments matrices and presets were for, and simply ignored them.
Later, I had to evaluate the usefulness of Christian Kardeis' Inspiration Presets for quickly sketching a piece. And examining "instant orchestra" libraries, like the Orchestral Tools or the Spitfire ones, I could remember that the VSL libraries I already owned did contain something very similar: combined instruments and chord matrices, and presets including several matrices to be quickly keyswitched.
The ultra-detailed VSL libraries do indeed include an instant orchestra. Quick sketching is possibile. Creating your own combinations is very easy. This could be very useful when, indeed, looking for inspiration.
