I've been on a chamber music fix recently. Here's a new piece I wrote for oboe, bassoon, and piano, called Incantations. Hope you'll enjoy!

Incantations by David Carovillano - PLAY

  • Managed to check back on the forum while I am away from my VSL toys. Very nice work...., this piece has a jazzy touch to it. Possibly Intended? Nice piano playing there too. Do you play the piano directly to record over the other instruments? I didn't know you play the piano well too:) Anand

  • Vacation's not as exciting as visiting the VSL forum, huh? lol

Hadn't considered the piece jazzy per se, but I can see that.  As for the piano, yes, I do play it in myself as it makes a big difference to the sound/feel, even if it adds some extra work having to play some impossibly difficult passages :)

  • Hi Dave,

In many ways a surprising composition full of unexpected turns and phrases. I particularly like the 'flow' of events. Not a real construction or a definable texture, but a kind of conversation between old acquaintances. Lovely, it has something from a very spontaneous improvisation and yet thought through. Mysterious like incantations...

  • Thank you, Max. Your kind words are greatly appreciated. If ever the piece is performed live, I'd love to include your thoughts in the program notes! Dave
