  • complete 1st edition-upgraded to complete pro question

I just got the update to the complete pro edition. I am confused. I thought I would just get the pro edition samples not included in the 1st edition but I have everything. for example I have 06 flute from 1st edition but the pro includes a 13 flute 2 folder with the same programs but more samples. so do I delete my entire 1st edition and install the entire pro edition instead? keeping both would be way too much.

if so what will happen when i open an old giga studio 3 session and it tries
to look for "FL2_pV_pA_sus" from the 06 flute folder and it's not on my drive anymore?

    help, thanks in advance

  • Herb!, anyone?

    thanks

    Hi acoustech,

sorry for the delay. There were some changes made, when we designed the Pro Edition, including some of the numberings of the instruments.

Many instruments in the Pro Edition have a lot more articulations and the sample structure had to be adapted in some cases.

That´s why we suggest to install the Pro Edition from scratch. If you have unfinished projects (I guess everyone has some of these, maybe not as many as I do..... but who knows), it is very wise to check, whether the naming of the used MIDI channels is correct (you will always find your FL2_pV_pA_sus, even if the numbers have changed, the instrument and the samples stayed the same).

I am sure you will be very happy with the Pro Edition. Don´t forget to get the GigaStudio 3 update art files available in our user area
    www.vsl.co.at/user.

    Hope that helps.

    Best wishes, Paul

  • thanks for the info, If I understand correctly, when I open an older giga studio 3 file once I've removed the 1st edition from my system, It wont find the programs and samples automatically but labling them correctly in DP's midi tracks is essential so that I can go search out the correct samples manually? -is that what you mean? or will giga be able to find the instruments in the new folder hierarchy from the pro edition?

    - the only bummer is that I've got quite a few stacked instruments etc.

    thanks

  • Well, sometimes you will be lucky, but I can´t make any promises really.

Correct labeling of the MIDI tracks will help a lot.

Personally, I would probably get a Firewire Drive or some other harddisc and save the FE on it, so that you will be safe in case you need it (additional diskspace can never be wrong...), but of course I can´t force you... [[;)]]
