  • Legato PT mode/slider question

The legato threshold and release time should only be used if one cannot play legato well. Perhaps that is a bit strong but, I have notice that if you really learn to "play" legato on the keyboard, there is no need to move the sliders. Am I correct in this statement? The reason I ask this is because I have experimented with the sliders and although they can help, a problem arises if the player uses the Release trigger. The release sample is delayed by the slider amount which sounds ..delayed and unnatural. I have found to keep the release time at the default (20) will sound the most real. That being the case how could you use the sliders? They work as long as the player does not use the release key. Any thoughts on this matter?? Any settings that work for you???
    Thanks

  • Hi Mike,

you are right in all points. The default settings work best and playing real legato is the best way to get realistic results. The Legato Threshold and Release Time are indeed designed to be a little help (especially in the beginning), because we are aware of the logical problems that arise when using more advanced features of the Performance Tool.

    Just my 2 cents,

    Paul
