This is a piece for solo violin (Karen Bentley, violin) and virtual orchestra. This was produced in 1996, so don't expect the VIs to sound nearly as good as they do today. All in all, I am happy with both the composition and the recording, and Karen did a fantastic job.

Violin Concerto, 3rd movement

Hi Jerry,
How interesting is this 'old' score to see the steep evolution of instrument libraries so far. Apart from this, your violin concerto is fascinating in many ways. First the thrilling violin part (not too challenging) and then the orchestral participation. I'm sure you would do a lot of the scoring differently now (more open, varied and contrasting discussion between orchestra and solo), but it has its own charm of being an accompanying concerto, in which the violin is almost continuously supported by the string ensemble. Yet, the solo part distinguishes itsef by sonority and clarity. Wonderfully done!
I enjoyed every second of it, although it doesn't meet our present day standards of listening anymore.

Excellent composition Jerry! I have always wanted to write a concerto for violin but I don't have the expertise to write for that instrument. If I did, I would want to capture the "passion" that your piece demands. We write in different styles and forms but I so appreciated what you did with this work. Bravo!

Thank you Wayne and Max, glad you can appreciate the piece in spite of the samples I had available to me in 1996!
