  • OS X security update and lost connection in VLS Pro

My computer made a automatic OS X security update and now I cannot find the server in the server host window.

It is extreme unfortunate since there is no way to uninstall the security update.

I am running a simple setup with one computer running protools 11 and a second computer running the VLS Pro server. They are connected through a ethernet switch.

I have succeded to turn of the automatic security updates now, but I dont know how to make the two computers comunicate again.

    Hi jholbek,

    What are your network settings?

You should definitely use static IP addresses, and avoid 169.x.x.x addresses (these are automatically assigned by your computer and tend to change).

    Please try the following:

Manually assign one of these IP addresses to the computers in your setup: 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x, and assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (leave the other fields blank), then it should work.

If your second computer is a windows computer: Did you try to deactivate the firewall?

If you need the firewall to be on, please establish exception rules for certain ports as described in the VE PRO 6 manual on page 4 (there is also more information about network setup to be found there).

    Best,
    Paul
