  • VEP 6 no longer auto connecting

Hi. For some reason, VEP 6 no longer auto connecting to my template. I have to manually connect each one after load up. It was all working before? Any ideas?

    thanks!

  • Hi,

    What is your network setup?

  • Main mac and imac slave connected via Ethernet via Netgear ProSafe 5 Port Gigabit Switch

The instances will not show up unless I do a fresh reset on the imac. Then they sometimes auto connect and work for a while then dissapear randomly in my session and instances wont be accessable again till I reboot everything.

VSL was working great for years with zero issues. Perhaps it has something to do with an OSX update

I upgraded to latest VSL 15864 and problem remains.

    Hi,

I actually meant your network settings, sorry.

You should definitely use static IP addresses, and avoid 169.x.x.x addresses (these are automatically assigned by your computer and tend to change).

    Please try the following:

Manually assign one of these IP addresses to the computers in your setup: 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x, and assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (leave the other fields blank), then it should work.

This is also described in the VE PRO manual on page 4.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Thanks. Yes I have both computers with static manuallly set ip. Now it totally does not see it at all.

The only other thing to tell is I always get "Do You want the application 'Vienna Esemble Pro' to accect incoming network connections? Which I always allow of course. But not sure why it would always ask this since I have VEP as a permission in the seciruty preferences. Like i said - VEP has been working flawlessly for years just now am I getting problems for some reason.

  • To add what I just wrote - I turned off firewall on both computers. Now 100% no connection. Tried to restore settings from last night when it was working and nothing. So strange.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, the built-in Apple Firewall only allows exceptions on an application basis, but not for individual ports.

VE Pro uses multiple ports for operation, this is why the Apple Firewall will always throw this message unless it is deactivated altogether.

Please send me screenshots of your network settings to support@vsl.co.at, so I can take a look.

    Best,
    Paul
