  • Kontakt going through "Loading sample data cache...please wait" every time .vesp project is opened

I just recently purchased VE Pro 6, and I'm having the issue of Kontakt going through the "loading sample data cache...please wait" every time I open a .vesp project. What's odd is that I didn't have this issue while I was on the 30 day demo, but right after I activated my purchased licenses I started having this issue. I am on Windows 10 x64. The project doesn't get stuck, it just goes through that step with EVERY instance of Kontakt that I have, EVERY single time I open the project. So thus it takes probably around 10 minutes for it to even open.

Any help would be appreciated. I have Kontak and VE Pro all added as exceptions to Windows Defender as well. On Kontakt 5.6.1.

  • Hi dylio,

The only thing that changes when you switch from demo to permanent license is the license, the software stays the same.

Did anything else change accidentally at the same time (drive names maybe)? Did you check the content assignment in Kontakt?

  • Hi Paul,

Nothing seems to have changed. Everything is as it was before I updated the license. I tried reinstalling VEP, and the first time it opened it did not attempt to do the sample data caching with kontakt. But then, unfortunately, one of the synthesizers I had loaded into the project caused it to crash, and after that every time it would do the caching. After testing it repeatedly, it seems that one of my synths is causing VEP to crash every single time. It seems to be either Serum, Zebra, Massive or Element. Are you aware of any compatability issues with any of these? Quite annoying considering once I loaded it in, I now can no longer  open the project, as it just crashes when it gets to loading in the synths.

EDIT: Can now confirm it is Waves Element. I removed the waveshell vst from the plugins folder that was included in VEP's preferences and the project was loaded properly.

  • Hello dyljo,

Please send a crash report with a short reference to this thread to support@vsl.co.at, my colleague Marnix will look into it.

  • Is there any news regarding this issue? I still have the same problem since several months. From time to time VEP6 hangs with this message. Force quit and having another start is the only solution. After two or three tries the project loads with no problems...

  • Hi Moreno,

Is this with MacOS or Win?

  • I get this too, about 1 time in 2-3, usually first launch

    macOS 10.12.3

  • Hi,

I remember that I had a similar message with a song that a user sent in - happened on all our computers, so I believe something got corrupted...

Maybe it helps to re-install and re-assign the sample content?

VE PRO doesn't have anything to do with the loading process, it is "only" the host...

Didn't find out more so far, sorry. Any pointers welcome!

  • We have this too, about other day. Only with VEP loaded K5 files. Works fine inside host daw.

  • Hi,

Would be great to get a few VE PRO files to check right here, best with popular libraries, ideally with the Kontakt Library: support@vsl.co.at
