  • Baroquen Jig in MIR - Studios & Soundstages

Here's my Baroquen Jig - a nonet for Violin, Viola, Cello, Piccolo Trumpet in A, Horn in F, Wagner Tuba, Flute, English Horn, Bass Clarinet.

I mixed it in MIR using the ORF Funkhaus “Grosser Sendesaal” (Grand On-Air Studio) for the first time.

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope 2017 will be a great year for all of you!

  • I seem to remember in a previous post you said that you use the standard Vienna cube? Is that correct? If you did this wit just the standard cube then well done! You're quite resourceful. However, to me, this sounds more modern than Baroque. You're expressing many ideas and themes that tend to compete with each other instead of compliment which is more the Baroque I'm familiar with. Then again maybe I don't listen to enough Baroque. Nonetheless it's still an enjoyable piece. Thank you for posting and happy new year to you too.

    Hi Jasen,

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and comment! Now the few of us that posted our music over the holidays won't have our pieces relegated to complete obscurity! Lol

Yes, I only have the Cube standard articulations. As for the intent of the work, you actually nailed it right on the head: Baroquen Jig is my playful take on Baroque elements that have been "broken" or "fractured" using a modern tone palette and less conventional instrumentation, hence the spelling "Baroquen" (although I may have used Baroken, but thought people might just think my spelling is bad and not make the "baroque" connection).

    Thanks again!

    Dave
