  • Solo Strings 1 Extended String Quartet

I'm in the process of writing a string quartet, but I'm running into phasing issues between the two violins.  What do users usually use for violin 2 in order to avoid phasing in unison lines?

  • I might be stating the obvious - but have you heard VSL's brandnew Solo Violin 2 already ...? :-)

    Kind regards,

  • Dietz is right especially in that the combination of the original solo violin with the new 2nd violin solo is really good for a quartet because the 1st is somewhat more intense vibrato, virtuosic and "in your face"  and the 2nd a little more relaxed and less flamboyant, so they are a good contrast.   One can hear the actual difference in players in the samples.  Of course you can use the original solo violin transposed but it won't have that contrast like a real quartet.

  • Thank you both for your responses.  I bought Solo Strings 1 Extended for the purposes of writing string quartets, so I was hoping I could resolve it that way.
