  • Bug: Apassionata Vl and VlB have identical samples in some cases

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create one track with Apassionata Vl-20_perf-legato and a 2nd track with Apassionata Vl-20B_perf-legato;
    2. Invert the phase on one of the tracks;
    3. Send both tracks identical MIDI of a B above middle C. The samples are clearly identical and almost null.
    4. Play just about any phrase. The mix's volume jumps erratically, indicating that many of the samples are identical or unnaturally correlated.

    In normal practice (not phase-inverting anything), this means that if you play unisons between Vl-20_perf-legato and Vl-20B_perf-legato, the stereo width jumps around erratically. I heard this clearly while trying to produce music with Vl-20B_perf-legato, which is why I went on to do the test described above.

    Hi,

    As not all articulations were recorded in chromatic scales, this can happen when pitch-shifting in halftone steps.

    These "B" Variations are "shortcut-articulations" with pitch-shifted notes.

    As a workaround, you can also pitch shift the articulation manually (1 whole-tone) and transpose your track accordingly. This is also discussed, e.g., here.

    In our opinion, it makes much more sense to create separate sections with other ensembles (Orchestral Strings, Chamber Strings, Dimension Strings) and create a second string section this way.

    Best,
    Paul
