  • SSD drive for OS AND VSL...?

    Dear All,

i am planning to switch to a 250 GB ssd harddisk (as boot drive and maybe more...). I would then use the "old" HD as second (internal or external) HD for storage, etc.

Can i use this new ssd-drive for both the OS (Win7) and the VSL software + libraries (without restrictions)?

If this is possible should i make an own partition for the VSL libraries? ...And put the VSL program software on the OS partition?

Or is it still recommended to put OS and libraries on two separate harddiscs?

    Thanks for recommendations :-)

    Andy

PC Win7 (SATA 2 Mainboard), 2 GB RAM (... i know... ;-)), VSL Special Edition 1+2, VI Pro, Mirx   (so far... :-))

    Hi Andy,

separate Solid State Drives would be better: one for your operating system and the other one to stream samples.

However, i run OS and VSTis on the same 500GB SSD with no problem whatsoever. It's probably worth mentioning that i have 32GB of RAM and that i use the machine to produce music exclusively, never installed anything else but the OS, Cubase and VSL.

    Hope it helps. 😃

    Best regards

    Francesco
