  • from DVD to SSD mac

    Hi,

Today I received a SSD drive for I wanted to put my entire VSL DVD's on it.

As I wanted to start the files on the DVD's turned out to be .exe files.

Is there an other way to enter these .exe files so that I can extract the samples to my new SSD drive?

    Thanks in advanced,

    Arnold

  • Hello Arnold,

This sounds like you are trying to install your legacy GigaStudio collections...

If I interpret your question correctly, you are now on a Mac, correct?

If I may ask: How would you use those GigaStudio collections? They are designed to work only with GigaStudio, I'm afraid.

With your Special Editions, installation will not be a problem at all, simply start the LIBRARY INSTALLER from your Vienna Instruments Application Folder and point it to the package.info file on DVD #1.

    Best,

  • Hi Paul,

Some time ago I purchased G-Player in order to use some of the harp samples from the library.

On my wishlist there is still a dedicated player/converter from you guys in order to use the legacy collections in a more constructive way. I really hope that one day you are able to make something to tackle this.

In the meantime my laptop is extracting the samples from the .exe files by using Unarchiver. It was by coincidence that I stumbled upon that, but it seems to work.

I also fuond some information on how to load .gig files into Kontakt, but I haven't tried that yet. As soon as I know more I'll post it here.

    Best, Arnold

  • After 2 days of copying the files to the SSD the job has been done.

    Status: mixed feelings, again . . .
    Why?:

    1. The performarce samples don't work properly with the version of G-Player I purchased.

    2. The "normal" samples are beautiful, but they need to be re-organized in a way that they will work as needed. I know I am a bit spoiled with the Special Edition + software.

Now, I am willing to work things up to a level in order to get things behaving like it should/like I am used to. But before I do I want to ask if there are any tips/hints to do this in the most efficient way?

It will take time but I want to take the time as efficient as posible.

    Thank you on beforehand!

  • Hi Arnold,

Unfortunately re-mapping is not an easy task. I'm afraid I have no tips for you there.

Personally, I´d get the rest of the Special Editions (it contains all the instruments we had in the Pro Edition back in 2003, and more), and work with what you have there. Much more flexible, and saves you A LOT of time.

    Best,
    Paul
