  • MIR Pro Freezing and other VEPro6 Issues!

Just installed and trying out the latest Vienna Ensemble Pro (6.0.15415) & Vienna MIR Pro (5.4.15393). Unfortunately it still seesm quite buggy. Some of the issues so far include:

    1. Keep losing control in the MIR Pro window when trying to click in or resize it. Seems to happen randomly. Have to close and reopen the window in order to be able to click inside it again to move instruments around. Not sure if this has to do with the VEPro 6 update or the MIR Pro update, hoever, it makes it unusable, especially to reposition instruments or resize the stage.

    2. Whenever opening an existing project from Cubase, VEPro 6 window sizes seem to return to default and you have to resize them again. Did not happen in version 5.

    3. Selecting plugin channels for software such as Kontakt 5 or other samplers/synths seems much slower response at times before it changes over to the new plugin. VEPro 5 was instant. Seems to be worse with AU version (such as Kontakt) thatn the VST versions (even though VEPro 5 only used AU plugins).

    4. Other random crashes which I currently cannot reproduce when trying to.

The program is definitely easier to read at this point than v5 was, especially on high def monitors. Unfortunately, I may have to go back to VEPro5 until the software becomes more stable/reliable. Was hoping by this time, it would have been a bit more usalbe.

  • Update. Just verified that it has nothing to do with the MIR Pro version after rolling back to the previous. Does the same thing. It seems that you lose the ability to click/drag/resize anthing in the MIR Pro window after resizing it. Have been able to reproducer this every single time now. Closing and reopening the window does not seem to correct it. Only Unlocking it seems to actually do the trick and get it working again. This also seems to be an issue do to the fact that every time you reopen VEPro6 and a project, it loses the window sizes and you have to resize the windows all over again. At this point its definitely a bug with the current VEPro6 version since VEPro5 never had this issue.

I find this happening in the server version but not the standalone.

  • Hi,

Just to tell you that we´re looking into this.

@palm38: Which OS, which versions of software are you using?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Vienna Ensemble Pro (6.0.15415) & Vienna MIR Pro (5.4.15393)

Just noticed as well that I had created (2) Cubase test projects with VEPro6 after installing the plugin. i just downgraded back to VEPro5 to get work done, and noticed that I cannot open these files any longer without crashing Cubase immediately. Luckily they were only test projects, and all other projects saved before installing VEPro6 still open no problem. Apparently, once you have a Cubase project using VEPro6 in it, you cannot downgrade back to VEPro5 any longer, or those new projects will not open. Funny thing though is that any prrojects saved originally using VEPro5 will open just fine with VEPro6 installed. Seems the projects saved are not backwards compatible because of whatever info Cubase is saving in those projects regarding VEPro6 plugin. THis, however, creates an extra precaution before installing the new version, especially if you are working on any new projects with it.

  • Hi kmm08,

Thanks. My question regarding the setup was directed towards palm38. The "@" should have indicated that.

I have also received the copy of this text that you sent to support@vsl.co.at.

And you are correct, projects containing VE PRO 6 plug-ins can not be opened with VE PRO 5.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Have the problem using OSX 10.10.5, VEPro 6.0.15415 and Notion 6.o.409.

The instrument icons on the MIR stage can sometimes be moved once and then they freeze.

Usually they can't be moved at all.

  • Hi,

I have been trying to reproduce this for some time, on my ancient MB Pro (mid 2010), OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite, VE PRO 6.0.15415 and MIR PRO 5.4.15393.... no troubles regarding MIR PRO.

I have tried to get the icons stuck in the following ways:

    - resizing the whole VE PRO Server window
    - resizing whole snapped and unsnapped instances
    - undocking just the MIR PRO window

What am I missing? Do you want to send me a song and/or a video, so I can get to the bottom of this (support@vsl.co.at)?

Regarding faster GUI switching: Did you activate "Fast plug-in GUI switching" in the VE PRO Instance Preferences?

Regarding Window Sizes: Improved Window state saving is on our to-do list but will take some more time.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Unfortunately, I had to pull version 6 off and revert back to version 5 so I cannot send any other info at this point. What I can say is that there wasn't much I could do to not make the issue happen. The MIR Pro screen would constantly freeze up and not let you resize or move anything on screen, yet the rest of VEPro6 would continue working as normal. It had nothing to do with any specific project. In fact, I tried it in stand alone mode while not synced to any project and did the exact smae thing every time. After reinstalling version 5, everyt hing seems to work as normal again - no freezing. Unfortunately, at this point, I just don't have the time to reinstall version 6 untill all bugs are worked out. I don't belilive it is possible to have both 5 and 6 installed at teh same time, which woudl have made it easier to troubleshoot while being able to continue working on existing projects.
