  • Percussion volume variance and Sibelius

    Hi Andi,

Thanks for your info regarding the Vienna Imperial.  I have just started using VSL percussion - standard and extended libraries with Sibelius.  I have noticed a problem when writing for a mallet instrument such as Xylophone.  If I write a row of say 8th notes, only the first note sounds at full volume.  I have discovered that I can solve this by turning each 8th note into a 16th note thereby leaving a space between each note.  Is there a better way to solve this issue?  I am not using the espressivo setting in Sibelius.

I will be purchasing the Vienna Imperial soon thanks to the information you sent me.  I would also be interested in the prepared piano.  Can that be fully activated via Sibelius?

    Thanks,

    cmoore

  • Hello cmoore!

Can you send your score to support@vsl.co.at so that I can reproduce what you describe?

The prepared piano can be used with Sibelius just like the Vienna Imperial or any other piano. Please note that if you want to switch between different preparations within one piece, you will have to add MIDI commands to your score as described in the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual, page 21.

    Best regards,
    Andi
