  • Orchestral and Performance

I'm currently "researching" on which sample library to use (with a limited budget)...can someone tell me what's the difference between the Orchestral and Performance pack? Are there just "more" samples or a completely different pack in itself.

I know this is a Vienna Symphonic Library page...but what other sample libraries are out there? I only have limited "resources" that I can manage...if you know what I mean! [:)]

Also, one last question if I may...what sampler do you all use? I'm thinking of using Kontakt for sampling...if it is at all possible.

    Thanks for your reply!

  • I think you should go the other way round. Decide which sample libs you want to use and then decide your soft sample according to that.

In this case if you want to buy VSL you should think Giga or EXS.

ItĀ“s just logical IMHO. I mean, as time passes, youĀ“re going to spend much more money in sample libs than in a given soft sampler...

  • Buying vsl is going to be a pretty expensive way to go once you add on having to buy gigastudio and all that other stuff. Also if you decide on vsl you better hurry lol before the pro edition arrives.

  • Hi pfung!

HereĀ“s the difference between the Orchestral Cube and the Performance Set (itĀ“s been covered on other topics already, so IĀ“ll make it short):

The Orchestral Cube comes with single notes (different lengths and playing techniques, dynamics, trills etc.)

The Performance Set deals with connecting tones (so you can play legato and repetitions in realtime, which is why we called it Performance Set), with upbeats, highspeed repetitions and runs etc...
The samples in the Performance Set have been specifically recorded for it, and they come with the Performance Tool.

    In a nutshell, thatĀ“s it.
