  • can't get 1gb+ sample onto hard drive

just got my vsl complete today & am busy copying it to my drives. i'm on strings now (1st disk, just started) & i am unable to copy the file "02 VA-10_mV_LONG-NOTES to my drive. it gets about halfway through then craps out, saying "cannot copy (the file): Invalid MS-DOS function."

obviously, i'm on pc. i'm running win2k & am copying to a 120gb western digital drive. this file is the only one on this disk that is over 1gb - is that the problem? is there a workaround?

also, i read on a card that came with the library that the manual will be shipped to registered users as of jan 2003 - so do i get my hard copy manual after i register or is it still not available?

    thanks

  • there must be some dust on your disk or on the laser of your dvd-drive
another message indicating problems to read files is *CRC-error* or *the file was not found at drive ....*
please try to clean your DVD or/and drive, as there is a checksum buildt while copying files, and if _some_ bytes are wrong, the process stops
and , as you pointed out, it's a huge file and many bytes need to get copied ...

ps: if your dvd is corrupt (which would be the first, but this can always happen) you get a replacement from your dealer/distributor

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
