    Hi Guys!

    I would like to use VE Pro on two computers (both have OSX installed). Obviously I'm going to need a screen sharing program...

    Is there anything that you could recommend?

    There is Screen Sharing in Mac OS Utilities or in the develloper packadge

    You can also acces to screen sharing when you connect to another server

    Hi ray12, 

    Most professionals I know like VE PRO on a separate screen, but if you don´t need that luxury, the built-in Screensharing in OS X is a great way to solve this! Give it a try!

    I tried the Screensharing in OS X and initially succeeded just by connecting the two computers and launch the screen sharing from OS X.

    Then I manually manually assigned a 192.168.0.x  IP addresses (192.168.0.3 in my case) to my slave computer (as described in the VE manual) From that moment on the screen sharing connection was broken and  I can't connect anymore no matter what I try :-(

    it is great to work with a template of 100 instrument with 4 x screen

    2 for the VEPRO template and 2 for Logic

    Hi ray12, 

    So what is the IP address of your master computer? It should also be 192.168.0.x, so that they are in the same network.

    The master computer's IP is 192.168.0.2 (because 192.168.0.1 is for the internet router)

    If I choose "connect" I can access all the hard drives/folders/files on my slave computer but screensharing won't work ("Connection failed to...").

    As soon as I delete that network with 192.168.0.3  in "preferences" => Network on my slave computer and the default "ethernet" configuration (using DHCP) is active again, I can access the slave computer via screen sharing again.

    Which IP address do you get when you choose DHCP?

    Where do you delete a network? Can you send some screenshots of your network settings to support@vsl.co.at?

    thanks  for your answer. Meanwhile I managed to get a connection via screen sharing. Unfortunately I have no idea why it's working now. It was working from the moment I turned off the internet router (but I was also restarting the slave and the master computer many times)

    Now as I turned on the internet router again screen sharing is still working (and I hope that's not going to change). I woul rather like to avoid fiddling around any further and deleting the working network again (so I can't tell you which IP address I get when I choose DHCP).

    If I'm running into any problems again I'll maybe need your help. Then I'll go back to to the DHCP and send you an screenshot...

    Screen sharing related question: Does screen sharing rob VEP of any resources? In other words, would screen sharing between two Mac Minis (2012s) impact on VEP at all? Similarly, how do the people who use a monitor for each VEP machine configure keyboard and mouse? A separate one for each machine or is there an elegant way to share a keyboard and mouse across multiple monitors/machines? Thanks for the help.

    It is using the same pipeline for resources... but nothing signifigant enough to warrant a second thought. Things to check are high quality Cat6 cabling, high quality switch and static IP addresses and disabled wifi. I would HIGHLY recommand checking out http://www.anydesk.com and using their latest screen sharing app testing it against anything else mentioned here... this software is so well developed I regualrly forget I am using tunneling software when I am operating my slaves. Also I have redundant access with key-mouse terminals but I ONLY use that for bios and system level control mods....

    Please do yourself the service of trying it out... it's so much faster than I can possibly describe with words (because of a highly advanced propietary video compression algorithm designed by former employees of top software manufacture Team Viewer. Quite wonderful. Flawless actually.

    I've set up two server farms with anydesk... one mac centered with two slaves, one pc centered with one slave. We are in an extremely fortunate period of music production technology to be able to operate like this. Hats off to Vienna team... without these guys... the only way to do this properly would be complicated midi-MADI-ADAT systems with clocking loops... lots of hardware and extremely expensive.
