  • Loading the fixed pro edition / perfromance set

    Hi there

I've now got my updated DVD sets of the pro edition / performance set - after I was adviced to return my older versions. This was due to a few glitches in the manufacturing process 18 months ago.

Is there a procedure to follow in updating the full library on my PC? Do I have to replace everything - which could take many hours! - or is there a way of simply coping those files that are new or different?

Also, I fear that updating the library might disturb the file references in my existing giga files??

    Many thanks

    Neil

  • Hello,

I too needed to replace all of my pro edition files due to some glitches in the files during printing. I replaced my whole set, which takes about 20 hours to load. I have had zero problems with GigaStudio project files locating the proper samples. From what I gather, GigaStudio learns the file name not the location. I did, however, load the files into the same location - same drive. That said I am not an expert on this, nevertheless, I have had no problems and would recommend reinstalling the entire set. It is worth it.

(I was relieved to find out that the glitches were in the files since I thought I was having buffer issues and/or data transfer issues that were sporadic and erratic and I had been unable to rectify the problem.)

  • Ok - I'll do the full load as you suggest whilst I wrap presents etc!

    Thanks for your help

  • Actually there is one more point - if the instrument on the new DVD hasn't changed size at all or date of origin, it doesn't need updating?
On this basis only half of the VSL needs reloading and this taking less time than I expected

  • unfortunately the clicks are beatifully spread almost across the whole set of instruments and only a few (eg. harp1 from the cube) are not affected. so you might be faster extracting and overwriting all instead of searching with winrar for files not changed before october 03
