    I know there's a way to make monophonic samples like perf legato polyphonic or monophonic, but I cannot remember where you make the switch. HELP!  :-)

    VI Pro advanced view.

    Global setting for the whole instrument is in the lower part of the player interface, next to the reverb settings: "Options", "Interval mode".

    For single patches, it's in the panel on the right, below the patch slots. "Advanced", "Interval mode". Make sure to highlight the correct slot/patch.
