  • What is the most suitable string pack to purchase for these arrangements?

I want to purchase a pack of Vienna String samples next week but I'm not sure which ones to buy.

Which pack would be suitable to use in my sequencer for the following arrangement at www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCZjaCNyYbc

    Regards,

    Richard Steed

  • If what you aspire to is a string ensemble sound similar to that of your youtube example, Solo Strings are the clear winner (your arrangment being an ensemble of soloists, not of orchestra sections).

  • Ok thankyou. Would I need the full pack or the standard? My budget is very limited you see.

How about for the string section in this video at https://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUC_rzsiua8 /watch?v=cUC_rzsiua8 between 2.06 and 2.20 minutes? What pack would I need to get that sound?

  • Solo strings as well, with a subtle delay effect added.

  • Would I need the whole bundle or just Solo strings I? Or II?

    Standard or the full pack?

Would they suit both video examples I've mentioned above?

    Hello R.Steed

Solo Strings II contains all samples of Solo Strings I but muted (with a damper). So this Library could be an addition later on.

For the Solo Strings I recommend the Full Library. There are coming some "everyday-articulations" with the extended version which lets you achieve more real results. (détaché long, cresendos, diminuendos...). Take into acount that quite every piece ends with a fading out note (diminuendo).

The Library "Solo Strings" is one of my favourite - and I say this as a violin player. Listen to the demos. Outstanding results are possible...

BTW: You could buy the "Standard Library" and as soon you believe it woul be better to own the full Library you can upgrade. I believe that you will pay the same price in total (sum).

  • Thankyou!

And finally, I know you may be biased but could you please give me a reason why I should choose Vienna Strings instead of LA Strings,Kontakt Pro Strings,Hollywood Strings and Berlin Strings?

What advantages do Vienna Strings have over the others?

  • The other libraries you mentioned don't have any solo string samples, they're all ensemble recordings. LA Scoring Strings has "first chair" positions, but those instruments aren't nearly as sophisticated as a dedicated solo string library like VSL Solo Strings.

  • Ok. Thanks for that! I'm buying VSL next thurday.
