  • How does VSL works?

Hi, I've understood that VSL works with Midi (is it right?) but I don't understand how it could reproduce instrumental techniques if Midi doesn't support them. An example: if I make a composition for guitar with bending, palm mute, harmonics and so on (for another instrument is the same) and Midi doesn't read that techniques, how can they be played with VSL?

    Thank you, Eraldo.

  • Hi Eraldo,

MIDI is a communication protocol, it doesn't "reproduce" anything - it communicates your "performance" commands to your virtual instruments.

If the piece from your example can be realised with a sample library or not depends on that library having samples of all the techniques you mention (this has nothing to do with MIDI).

    Is this of any help?

  • Ok, thanks. Is there the possibility to see in a demo which techniques VSL support for the instruments?

    Thanks, Eraldo.

  • Hello Eraldo!

You can find detailed lists of all included articulations on all of our product pages under "Sample Content".

Video demos can be found here:

  • What's the meaning of "Free software" in the page you have sent to me?

    Thank you.

  • Hello Eraldo,

When you purchase one of our library products, a free sample player (Vienna Instruments) and host software (Vienna Ensemble) is included.

    Best,
    Paul
