If I want to retain mix levels as a starting point when using Mir Pro, should I simply switch off "Distant Dependent Scaling"? Or am I loosing any of MIR's useful behaviours if I do that.
I'm receiving stems from others, and as a starting point, for speedy workflow, I want to keep their original levels intact, even when placing instruments at the stage and selecting the proper microphone settings.

Another question, does it matter for the sound at which volume a sound enters MIR, i.e would things start to behave differently if a sound hits it at 10db higher, and being lowered by 10db at the channel strip in the DAW, after MIR, and vice versa?
From MIR's point-of-view, raw input volume is completely irrelevant for the resulting sound (within the limits of 32bit floating point processing, of course - which is a lot). MIR's engine relies on linear convolution, so all potential perceptive changes in sound at different volumes are due to the non-linearities of the human ear. :-)
Of course, many other plug-ins you might use before or after MIR Pro might react differently, so it's a wise decision to stay within meaningful ranges nonetheless. Good old "gain staging" ....

Sure, thats a give, but thats great to know!
By the way, I just realized instrument profiles and names (EDIT: and placement!!) are saved with the plugin when saving it as a patch in Logic X. Godsend!!!!!! (working on 45 songs for a TV series, so thats a tremendous speed up in workflow) So excited when I realized that!!
