  • Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 Surround / Cakewalk

    Hi Everyone ,

I am trying for the life of me to setup a instance of with VI Pro 2 inside VE Pro 5 surround inside Sonar Platinum  .

And i cant seem to do it ,

Heres what i am doing though obviously iam missing something

    0) i start 64 bit and 32 bit VSL Servers

    1) loading new 5.1 surround project in sonar>

    2) Inserting VEpro surround plug in >

    3) server interface>preferences>5.1 >connect to 64 bit server

Now i have opened my DAW and Vienna ensemble pro 5

so next inside VE pro i add VI pro , and this is where i get lost ,

can anyone point out what to do next please

    Regards

  • OK FIXED

******Make sure you use the vst 3 version of VE Ensemble Pro Surround.dll ********

If you Use the vst2 version then the channel configuration will not change off ( Channel configuration :Stereo) on the server interface ( NO MATTER WHAT YOU SELECT IN PREFERENCES i.ei 5.1-6.1-7.1 etc etc  /NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU RESTART THE INSTANCE AFTER CHANGING PREFERENCES ) In order for the surround to work you must see the following on the server interface  (Channel Configuration:5.1 ) or what ever suroound preference you choode in the vst3 version  .You will not be able to change the surround settings in the vst 2 version .OK I HOPE I HAVE MADE THAT CLEAR

So i think the most confusing part for me was in  the sonar , you see inside sonar>edit>preferences>vst3 migration>replace vst2 plug ins when opening projects - this is checked , which should mean that it will replace my vst2 plugins with the vst 3 version on opening the project , well i can safely say now that it does not do that at all and more importantly i would have selected the vst3 version immediatly if i knew sonar wasnt doing it for me .

ONe Last thing  -   sonar does not have to be in a surround 5.1 new project for this to work .

    Regards

    All the best

  • Hi taccess,

Thanks for reporting. I hope that you have contacted my colleagues at Sonar as well, seems like there´s room for improvement there.
