  • extended vs standard presets

    hi

    hi

I find out that while working in Sibelius loading the extended preset plays differetly then the standard.

I had a simple legato line which won't play legato in orchestral strings (that is why my question before with the house styles) then I deceded to load the extended library just to try and woops it play perfectly fine.

yet if i put sul tasto for example it won't play legato any more .

I have a similar problem with the trumpet .

    why is it happenning

i thought i can load the standard just to save on cpu ?

what am i doing wrong ??

    thanks

    Assif

  • Hello Assif!

The standard VI presets for Sibelius contain less patches than the extended ones. Therefore they take less RAM. The CPU usage should be the same.

Legato is included in both and should work in the same way.
Sul tasto is not included in the Orchestral Strings collections. So the command shouldn't make a difference.
Please check, if you are using the "[VSL Orchestral Strings]" instruments from the Sibelius "Add or remove instruments" menu. Only these instruments will work correctly with the "Orchestral Strings" programs of the "VE Strings" sound set. More help can be found in the Troubleshooting chapter of the "Optimzing Sibelius Playback" manual.

    Best regards,
    Andi
